Day 1

Finding your root.

It all starts with a solid foundation…

Just like building a house, all your efforts will be useless if you build such a magnificent house on unstable ground. Same applies here. Mula-adhaar means foundation. The muladhara chakra is the foundation of the physical structure and the energy body. Having a stable foundation is very important.

My intention behind today is for you to discover that:

All is within you! & I invite you to set your intention on discovering and creating YOU. You are not lost and you do not need to Find yourself, instead you need to disconnect from limiting believes and reconnect to the inner truth.

Meditation 1

After the initial 7 minutes, we will begin a meditation to help us connect, balance and unblock our first chakra and reconnect with the element of earth.

I would like to leave you to explore what this chakra means to you and how you can find your connection to balancing this energy. Therefore I have created the below handout for you to explore so many different ways and aspects that you can awaken and heal this space.

Lets get sciencey :)

I’m no expert on this subject but I got deep deep deep down the chakra hole :) and I found a bunch of really interesting stuff that I wanna share with you.

For those of you who may not know, I’m actually a super nerd! I started studying Genetic engineering back in my early university days, I was a top student with a full scholarship to finish my biology degree, and as much as I loved learning about new things from the science, physics and math perspective I got board easily and switched my degree to Fashion :D what a crazy turn of events ….but thats a long story for another time, for now jumping back into the chakra thing… once I was introduced I wanted to know if there are any valid research on the topic from a medical POV.

Since behind the Root Chakra

It is considered the center of manifestation and represents the densest level of reality. This chakra is more closely related to the body’s physical vitality than any other. Pulling us down into the safety of our bodies and the shelter of the Earth, this energy vortex works like the roots of a tree, grounding and connecting us to safety and stability. It may come as no surprise that the element of the Root chakra is Earth, the dense, steady force sustaining our existence. The Root chakra is closely related to organs of elimination, the large intestine, kidneys, bladder, rectum, sciatic nerve, bottom of the feet, and adrenal glands*.

The exchange of Prana, Life Force Energy, can be understood anew within the context of chakras informing a network of correlated glands, organs, and neural fibers. When unbalanced, this chakra will express itself as fear and insecurity. Grounding barefoot into the Earth, or Earthing, is a common, scientifically-validated therapy associated with Root chakra balancing. The porous glands on the soles, connected to sudomotor neurons plugged into the sciatic nerve, are free to connect the body directly into a flow of healing negative ions that exist in overabundance on the surface of the Earth. In this way, our bodies may be in a subtle energetic communication with the planet.

*Adrenal glands, also known as suprarenal glands, are small, triangular-shaped glands located on top of both kidneys. Adrenal glands produce hormones that help regulate your metabolism, immune system, blood pressure, response to stress and other essential functions.

Chanting session 1

Mantra means a sound. Today, modern science sees the whole existence as reverberations of energy, “different levels of vibrations. Where there is a vibration, there is bound to be a sound. So, that means, the whole existence is a kind of sound, or a complex amalgamation of sounds – the whole existence is an amalgamation of multiple mantras. Of these, a few mantras or a few sounds have been identified, which could be like keys. If you use them in a certain way, they become a key to open up a different dimension of life and experience within you”.- Isha Foundation

The below Mantra has been specifically chosen for this day as the meaning behind the lyrics is:

Om Namah Shivay Mantra in English:

I bow to the inner self, my inner truth. I bow to the greatness within.

Chanted by my talented friend Steffi Bichweiler, her voice leads you to feel strong vibrations. Simply enjoy listening or join and sing along with her!

Lastly…

Change Yourself and You Change the World “Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.”_ Rumi

Let that poem sink in and if you are feeling inspired to journal about your experience and jot down your feelings, questions, thoughts I would like to leave you with the following prompt:

1) Decide what you really want for your life

Asking this question is the first, all-important step. If you’re not sure of the answer, get out a blank sheet of paper and write, “What do I really want?” Then, take a deep breath. Continue to breathe deeply, centering your attention in your body, for as long as you need for your mind to calm and your thoughts to fall away. Then, let your pen simply write your answer from this deeper place of feeling and knowing. Don’t let the thoughts or judgments that are sure to pop up sway you. Just keep writing what your intuition tells you.
